Resolving the Issue of Potholes in Mumbai

Potholes are annoyance across the country and especially in the crowded city of Mumbai. They have resulted in injuries and deaths during the monsoon.

To resolve this aggravated issue, a citizen group in Mumbai has developed an app, Spothole that allows the citizens to track and report the potholes in the city. Spothole is a crowd-funded app. Now, everything has become technology oriented. So, why should potholes be an exception?

As of now, Spothole app is available for download on Google Play Store and App Store. Meri Sadak is a similar app that also tracks and reports potholes.

How does it work?

Users can click pictures of potholes and the app automatically geotags them and saves the information for others to view. Moreover, the group is requesting civic authorities to collaborate with them and use the app to track and fill the potholes. An additional feedback function enables users to keep track of work being done to fill the pothole. This function can also help local bodies keep track of how frequently the pothole resurfaces.
