Mumbai-based Mahindra & Mahindra (M & M) is walking on the path of Tesla, nuTonomy, Mercedes-Benz and Google who are working on self-driving vehicles. The only difference is Mahindra is cracking its head for autonomous trucks; while the others are dealing with cars.
India’s leading truck- making company is looking forward to bring autonomous tractors for the Indian farmers across the country. Mahindra’s biggest competitor Deere & Co. is already offering autonomous vehicles, digital tools and state-of-the-art technologies that ease and smooth the agricultural process.

Reports say that Mahindra has sold 240,721 tractors in India and overseas in the last fiscal year. In 2015, Mahindra bought a 33 percent stake in Mitsubishi Agricultural Machinery to enhance its presence in the Indian heavy-duty tractor market. From over the past decade, Mahindra has acquired major tractor-makers in India and have collaborated with farm-equipment companies.
