Hyperlocal startup,Roadrunnr shake hands with TinyOwl

TinyOwl is a food ordering app, whereas, RoadRunnr is a hyperlocal on-demand delivery startup service. They have collaborated with each other to launch a food delivery platform.
Renowned food ordering app of Mumbai, TinyOwl has merged with Roadrunnr, a Bangalore-based on-demand delivery startup service. The duo together is soon to launch a consumer food delivery platform Runnr in Mumbai by May end, in competition with Swiggy and Zomato. Soon after this merger, TinyOwl plans to shut down due to its drying out capital.
RoadRunnr was started by Mohit Kumar and Arpit Dave, former Flipkart executives by raising a seed funding from Sequoia Capital India and Nexus Venture Partners, who were the investors for TinyOwl as well. Sequoia Capital and Nexus Venture has helped in pushing the deal between these two parties. The value of the deal remains undisclosed as yet.
The food delivery and takeaway market in India was pegged at $12.8 billion in the year 2014, as per the Kotak Institutional Equities Research Reports.
The strong user base of TinyOwl and advanced back-end technology of RoadRunnr will help the duo to successfully step into the food segment. They plan to enter the other markets of delivery in the near future.
