Cookaroo, a Bangalore based Food Delivery Startup Raises Angel Funding

Tired of having junk food delivered to your home? Now there’s a solution: Cookaroo. It’s a Bangalore based food delivery app that focuses on delivering quality food at your doorstep. Unlike the conventional food delivery apps that get your orders from restaurants, Cookaroo brings you, freshly prepared, plated meals that are cooked using the best ingredients of the highest quality. It was founded in 2015, by IIM alumni Darshan Subhash, Eraj Hassan and Nikhil Karanjkar.

Cookaroo has recently raised angel funding from Vijay Krishna Yadav, MD of Highland Hospitalities and Sachindra Murugesh, who is now the Vice President of Business Development at Cookaroo. These funds will be channeled towards technology development and to increase the scale of operations all over Bangalore and later in Hyderabad, according to the Co-Founder and CEO Darshan Subhash. Vijay Krishna Yadav, MD of Highland Hospitalities says that Cookaroo has a very viable business model, which is similar to OYO rooms’ business model.

Features of Cookaroo and its Business Model

  • Cookaroo has its own kitchens (underutilized commercial kitchens) and it doesn’t rely on restaurants, unlike many other food delivery apps.
  • It not only solves consumer problems but addresses the complications in the supply chain as it is not reliant on external parties.
  • It has a tried and tested business model.
  • It has recently procured sufficient funds for rigorous expansion, which will increase its customer base.

Success Story

With the recently procured angel funds, Cookaroo plans to expand rapidly within Bangalore as well as in Hyderabad. Recent statistics show that Cookaroo currently deals with almost 200 orders a day and this number is soon expected to go up. It also deals with Corporate Catering and Events, which acts as an additional source of income. This contributes to around 20% of its current income it is expected to go up to 50% in the next 3 months, ensuring a stable growth rate and financial stability.

The company also has 15 fully operational commercial kitchens across JP Nagar, Jayanagar, HSR Layout, Koramangala and CBD (Central Business District) in Bangalore. Cookaroo also plans to expand its scale of operations to areas like Sarjapur, Kammanahalli, Bellandur and many other notable IT corridors in the city. That is not all. They are further expanding their operations to Hyderabad, which will happen by April, this year.

With a stable and unique business model, sufficient financial backup and 15 fully operational kitchens, Cookaroo is setting a new benchmark in the food delivery industry (Better watch out, Fresh Menu). This is definitely good news for the customers because, with this level of competition, the industry will only get better.
