Startups Will Now Be A Course Of Study For Engineering Students

When “startup” is the talk everywhere, and even more in the IT capital, then how can the efficient batch of entrepreneurs lack behind. As the startup ecosystem is emerging day by day as a result of which the educational institutions are merging it into their curriculum.

M.S Ramaiah Institute of Technology (MSRIT) is now providing startup software engineering as a part of its postgraduate courses. All M.Tech engineering students who are selecting Computer Science and Computer Networking courses will have to study this subject in their first semester.

The basic thought behind this is to gain a new way of thinking in the students in the college level, regardless of whether they want to launch a startup or join an existing one or opting for the last option of joining an established firm , explained by Nagabhushan A.M professor in the Computer Science Department at MSRIT.

The basic aim in this mandatory course is to give them a mentality of a startup. Various startups whether from abroad or in India are coming to Bengaluru, so these jobs are available. Apparently, if the students are not interested of fail in startup they are ready to work anywhere, said Prof Nagabhushan. With the success rate of the course, MSRIT plans to spread it to other under graduate students too. Sangeeta Gupta, senior vice-president, National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM), said given the “explosive growth” in the startup ecosystem, access to talents who understand the startup mindset was essential.
