Ever since our Indian Government has launched Make in India, an initiative to encourage multi-national as well as national companies to manufacture products in India itself various sector and startups are emerging. It was launched by our Prime Minister, Narendra Modi on 25 September 2014. Various sectors have been opened up for investments like Defence, Railways, Space, Medical, Automobile etc. Moreover policies have been changed so that it facilitates investments and ease of doing business. Last September various startups under this initiative also participated in India Gadget Expo 2016 which was held in Bangalore. The one sector we are looking upto is Medical Technologies. Lot of startups in this sector is growing day-by-day.
Medaino Healthcare is a Bangalore-based startup that focuses on new innovative IoT health-derived products. It includes H.O.M.E (Hands on Monitoring Equipment) and a Health app. H.O.M.E is an IoT which examines blood Pressure, ECG, blood oxygen content, respiratory rate, body temperature and heart rate. The mobile app gives us data about our like heart rate, respiration rate, spo2, hemoglobin, and blood pressure. The data is collected by hardware device that sends it to mobile application via BLE. One can monitor their health real time and can take preventive measure without any delay.
Another startup in this sector is Dozee, based in Karnataka it produces most elegant simple non wearable health monitor. It works by recording the vibrations produced by the body during sleep and later these vibrations are classified into various features such as heart rate, breathing rate, sleep cycles, snoring, restless leg movement and this principle is known as Ballistocardiography. After that data is processed using machine learning for sleep stage classification.
Relisys is located in Hyderabad and focuses on cardiovascular device manufacturers. It develops and produces stent systems and angiographic catheters for various life-threatening diseases such as cardiovascular, peripheral vascular, neurovascular (stroke) and structural heart disease. It has production area of 35,000 sq. ft and was first company that has catheter manufacturing facility as per the USFDA norms in Asia.
