‘Big Bazaar Direct’ To Call It Off

“I attempted e-commerce four times in my life. We started FutureBazaar way before Flipkart. We lost Rs. 300-350 crore in business. Then, we created Big Bazaar Direct…We lost there as well,” said Biyani.

The Cause of Shut Down

Future Group Founder and CEO Kishore Biyani confirmed the news of ‘Big Bazaar Direct’ shutting down in the next week since it is experiencing great losses. Future Group-owned, Big Bazaar Direct is a B2C online platform to buy Big Bazaar products launched in 2013. Biyani has tried his hand several times (at least 4 times) in the e-commerce industry. However, something is not working out for him and he fails again with Big Bazaar Direct.

Now, the Group wishes to move its focus back to its core business of physical retail.

The development was first reported by Business Standard.
