SmartSite Monitors Workers’ Safety at the Construction Site

Because they care.
The us-based startup, SmartSite Safety introduces hardware and cloud-based software to assist construction companies. The primary aim of its state-of-the-art technology is to monitor their workers’ health and safety at sites.
How does it work?
The startup’s system keeps track of noise levels, airborne particulates, and UV rays as well as estimates on-site risks. As per SmartSite’s co-founders, Michael Andrea and James Batstone, the company’s hardware hub contains off-the-shelf sensors including a microphone, laser particle counters, and UV sensors.
The main purpose is to monitor construction sites accurately every day such that it does not interrupt regular workflow on construction sites and doesn’t require workers to wear or carry additional gear. Thus, in addition, SmartSite’s solutions don’t need the workers to carry anything. It is a part of the current batch of Y Combinator.

Being the first of its kind their software lets construction teams quickly see where and when their workers are safe, or may be at risk, on a given job.
Co-founder Andrea adds, “People want to do the right thing for their workers. But there is also a cost associated with time lost to illness, and possible lawsuits.” Well, we think SmartSite is doing it right!
