Ford Acquires Israeli Startup To Develop Driverless Car Technology

Self-Driving Car by 2021!
Who acquired whom?
Ford Moto Co., the renowned motor company has recently bought SAIPS, an Israeli machine learning startup. The motive behind this is, the company wants to develop Driverless cars by the year 2021.Although no monetary details were revealed, it is believed the acquisition is in the range of tens of million dollars.
What is SAIPS know for?
SAIPS is one of the four investments that Ford has made to heighten its technology and to develop the full automatic car. The company emphases and is expertise on machine learning and computer vision and has already developed various algorithmic solutions in image and video processing, deep learning, hottest computer vision challenges in the areas of detection, tracking, image enhancement, registration, segmentation, pattern recognition, positioning, 3D, prediction, signal processing and classification.
The startup was founded by Udy Danino, CEO; Rotem Littman – Chief Technology Officer and NogaZiebe in the year 2013. It is situated in Tel-Aviv and has about 15 employees. Their most recent clients are HP and Israel Aerospace Industries.
Why this acquisition?
The next generation is will be driven on automatic automobiles and Ford believes that they can improve safety and social-environmental challenges for millions of people. SAIPS’s skills can be aids for onboard data analysis recorded by Ford’s sensors. The company will remain operating as an independent unit underneath the Ford umbrella.
Ford believes this acquisition will help them in creating the self-autonomous car that can adjust according to its surrounding environment.
