Co-founder Of Coursera Moves On To Become Chief Computing Officer At Calico

Daphne Koller Advancing in all Fronts

Daphne Koller, Co-founder, Coursera has recently announced her decision to join Calico, a research, and development company whose mission is to harness advanced technologies to increase our understanding of the biology that controls lifespan.

Founders’ History with Coursera

Founded by Daphne Kollerand Andrew Ng back in 2012, Coursera an education platform that partners with top universities and organizations worldwide, offers courses online for anyone to take. It was the brainchild of the two, born during their work together on artificial intelligence research at Stanford.

Both have now officially moved on to new challenges as Andrew Ng left to become chief scientist at Baidu’s research arm and Koller’s new post awaits her. Yet, Koller and Ng remain co-chair’s of the Coursera Board of Directors.

Koller’s Start at Calico

Calico was created by Google in 2013 and tackles challenges of human aging and associated diseases. Koller will be joining the company as its Chief Computing Officer, and is already on the company’s website.

As per the news, Koller will work on the growth of new computational techniques to examine biological data sets that help them to attain the important societal and goals. Koller will be beginning her official duties next week.
