A Chance To Know If Apple Has Any Flaws- Launch Of Bug Bounty Program

The real test is now!

Apple’s Head of Security Ivan Krstic announces the long-awaited launch of Bug Bounty Program at the Black Hat Conference, an annual event designed for the global InfoSec community.

What is a Bug Bounty Program?

Bug bounty programs are primarily used to find vulnerabilities in programming. Reports from hackers are reimbursed for cash; providing a two-fold benefit to both the company and the individual.

Major Tech Companies have adopted Bug Bounty Programs extensively over the past five years.Firms that don’t have the technical expertise to run their own bounty programs outsource this imperative security work.

But, Apple over the years denied embracing the same. The company refused to reimburse bug reports causing frustration for the security researchers who then find it difficult to report flaws to the company.

The Much-awaited Change in Times

Ivan Krstic announced Apple will begin offering cash bounties of up to $200,000 to researchers who discover susceptibilities in its products.

Now, starts the real test! Will Apple researchers discover vulnerabilities or will the company uphold its flawless image? Please share your thoughts in the comments section below.
