Apple will soon launch its first TV reality show called ‘Planet of the Apps’ purely focusing on app developers. ‘Planet of the Apps’ is more than just a reality show. It is a launchpad and accelerator for 100 world’s most talented and exceptional app developers.
What is the Show all about?
The participants need to send information on their prospective app as well as a one-minute video profile of themselves and their team. Basically, it is an unscripted competition between apps, where contestants have to compete for getting mentorship from some of the best level experts in tech and entertainment industry across the globe. Also, the contestants are expected to receive a funding of $10 million from top-tier VC firms as well as featuring in the App Store as a token of marketing. Since it is a competition, the show is said to hold lot of surprises for the viewers. The exact format of the show remains undisclosed.
Nearly around 2 million apps are available on the App Store, with new apps published every day. Planet of the Apps will give an opportunity to the app creators to innovate with apps like never-before and share their groundbreaking ideas with the world.
The date of the show going on-air is not yet out. But, all the contestants are expected to apply by the end of August and prepare the beta version for the app by October 2016. Reportedly, the show will be available on Apple’s own platforms such as so, Apple TV and iTunes. There is no word whether the show will be picked up traditional TV or other cable networks.
