London Startup Thriva Offers Home-Based Blood Test Kit

Track Your Health from the Comfort of Your Home
Another startup from London is knocking at the doors of growth. Seedcamp-backed Thriva offers a simple finger-prick blood test kit that can be used from the comfort of your home. It can point out cholesterol levels, and liver and kidney health.
What Does Thriva Do?
Thriva co-founder and CEO Hamish Grierson thinks that we are prisoners of a reactive health paradox. Often, we go to a doctor as a reaction to some illness. But we seldom visit a hospital for regular checkups that can prevent us from falling sick in the first place. As an initiative to convert this paradox into a preventive regularity, Thriva offers us the facility of regular blood checkups, and that too, from the comfort of our homes.
The kit comes with simple instructions and extra lancets. After a finger-prick test, you can seal the test in an envelope (also provided in the kit) and send it off to one of Thriva’s lab partners. The lab analyses the blood sample and uploads a detailed report on Thriva’s online platform for your eyes only. The results are accompanied with a health expert’s recommendation on certain lifestyle changes to improve your health. In more serious situations, the expert gives you name of specific doctor to go to for further checkup.
The Way Forward
In coming days, Grierson plans to come up with customized tests for Thriva’s growing customer base. They are also planning to get into corporate healthcare and provide tailor-made tests for corporate employees. The main aim of Thriva is to inform its users the impact their lifestyle is making on their health. This way, they can quickly make amends and become proactive rather than reactive.
The Thriva test kit comes for £49.99.
