Hydronalix Invents a Robot to Save Drowning Victims

EMILY (Emergency Integrated Lifesaving Lanyard), is a portable robot designed to save life of drowning victims trapped in ocean, flood and beach.
Robotics implementation in disaster management can give a new and faster recovery process with less effort. Unmanned vehicles are capable of reaching anywhere in rough condition to find and locate the victim. Thus, saving life would be safer and faster. Estimated 1.7 Million case of drowning came into picture in 2013. Unintentional drowning is common near beaches or while boating.
Lifeguards are available on the beaches, but on oceans and the flood situation emergency service requires time to reach. Hydronalix, a Maritime Robotic company builds up a portable robot, proficient of reaching drowning victims immediately. Called as ‘Emily’, a unmanned Robotic Lifeguard that is built to sail in rough waters, controlled by an operator.
It can be dropped through a helicopter or thrown into the water to get in touch with the drowning victim and ensure safety. Below is the design, a 5 foot long flag keeps the robot visible from a distance. Hull that strengthens with Kevlar keeps it durable and always floating. Emily can reach a speed of 22mph, powered by jet pump with no propeller to avoid any mishap, while rescuing.
Emily does not need any kind of prefect alignment or launch pad to enter in the water. The below video explains the efficiency of Emily on improper landing. It is not just a robot to rescue people. Few companies are also working on futuristic models to boost faster recovery in disaster. Point to be noted- Emily has participated in saving life of Syrian refugees.
