Starbucks offers free education to its employees

Globally recognised coffee and beverage conglomerate Starbucks has offered to pay for the tuition of its employees for the entire of the four years of an undergraduate bachelors program.

This is a plan eligible for anybody who works with them 20 hours in a week. Starbucks is quoted as saying that this is is pursuit of the American Dream and also as most of its employees are students or aspiring students and the company looks at this as an “investment” of a kind.

Not just this, all U.S. based employees of Starbucks-owned businesses —
including Teavana, Evolution Fresh, La Boulange,— regardless of role, who do not yet have a bachelor’s degree are eligible to apply for this program. It is a collaborative venture with Arizona State University (ASU) and one is not even expected to, or obligated to continue to work with Starbucks after they graduate.

This college achievement plan also extends for the veteran and military employees and their families. This plan helps a family member of a former or current member of the United States Armed Forces to join any of the undergraduate programs being offered by the Arizona State University’s online degrees, completely free of cost. The family member may include a child, a spouse or a a domestic partner.

And not just this, the eligible applicants will receive the aide of an Enrollment counselor, a financial aid counselor, an academic advisor and a success coach to overlook their journey up until graduation.

At its very commencement, the program witnessed 2000 enrollments by employees across United States.

The CEO of Starbucks , Howard Schultz csaid that this was a step they undertook to increase education among the American workers, and to boost the economy towards a dire need for education, recognising and honing of talent.
