Viacom18 Ties Up With Startup India

Looks like the Startup India project has a new supporter. Viamcom18, the television media house which is the parent company of channels like Colors and MTV has recently got into an agreement with the Union government’s department of industrial policy, and is on board to take the Startup India campaign to greater heights.
The media house is planning to launch a year-long outreach programme called ‘MTV Kickstart’ for budding entrepreneurs. This programme will comprise of a reality show, digital communication and numerous on-ground activities.
This undertaking aims to reach out to potential entrepreneurs who require the right push and roper guidance to make it big in the business world. The programme will be targeting about 300 colleges all over the country. This feat would be achieved through around 10 startup festivals- which would be two-day events hosted in India’s first and second tier cities. It will also give the youngsters a golden chance to interact with investors and will provide them a platform to pitch their ideas.
The secretary of government’s department, Amitabh Kant talked about how this would help the Startup India campaigners to get to know the nation’s youth better and allow their caliber to be measured.
“The programme will look at a variety of start-ups — in tech and engineering, in the social space, in art and culture and, could be, in the media, too.” says Sudhanshu Vats, group chief executive of Viacom18.
The major attraction of the undertaking, the reality show will be aired in the third quarter of this calendar year.
