Tunisia is becoming the focus point for startup story

Since the Arab Spring in 2011, Tunisia’s new democracy has battled to approve the well judged economic policy to provide employment opportunities to its young and potential population. At present unemployment is 15% along with one third of jobless university graduates. The imbalance is sharp, while inflation continues to affect the investment. In order to control the gap between education and employment, young Tunisians are ready to take charge of this. The brilliant, young university graduates are initiating Tunisian startup companies, so as to create a civic entrepreneurship throughout the small country.

In spite of the fact that there are no official figures available on the number of Tunisian startups, but the estimates recommends that thousands of new companies have been formed over a period of five years. The countries pace of startups has largely diversified to in larger parts since 2011, all thanks to the faster, internet access and advancement in technology. Europe also recommends Tunisian startups a larger, more profitable market and the chance to attend startup exposure to offer the ideas.

The startup E-Taxi simultaneously has acquired popularity in the last year. The app works similarly as Uber, where users can easily find and call the cabs to pick them from the desired location. As Houssem Aoudi, the CEO of the startup accelerator Cogite, told Tunisia Live: “For me, entrepreneurship is a kind of resistance against unfriendly banking system and our old-fashioned government. Being an entrepreneur offers us a valve to breathe with.”
