ZENCRATE : A Kennel designed to Reduce Anxiety in Dogs
No more Xanax for your loyal buddy!
‘ZENCRATE’ is a smart crate for dogs suffering from anxiety. PNP Robotics, a Florida-based startup designed ZENCRATE to express dog’s anxiety through technology. Mechanical engineers of PNP Robotics, Chris Lightcap, and Jonathan Azevedo created this unique crate using proximity sensors, sound therapy and vibration reduction technology. The core aim of the crate is to improve the lifestyle of the dog through technological innovation.
How does it work?
When a dog enters the ZENCRATE during an anxiety attack, the inbuilt sensors detect its access and starts playing calm music. Over 1000 songs are selected through research studies to play inside the crate. The music that is played inside avoids scary sounds like thunderstorms, fireworks (as dogs are easily distressed by the noise). The vibration reduction technology helps in minimizing the physical vibrations from outside. ZENCRATE can be used as a den or a crate with a detachable door. Orthopedic memory foam can adjust to the dog’s shape and weight, giving him comfort in almost any position. Proximity sensors activate the fan to maintain optimized internal temperature.
Here’s a video explaining how ZENCRATE works:
The ZENCRATE is Wi-Fi enabled, which can transmit data or messages to the owner on his smartphone. The add-on Wi-Fi camera will give the owner the ability to see his or her dog via a web browser, anytime and anywhere. When the power goes out, ZENCRATE will still work on its battery backup to keep the dog calm. Once the power resumes, the battery will automatically be recharged. ZENCRATE does not require a single tool to assemble. It will be released in July or August with a low introductory price.
