Wiwigo Brings Inter-City Taxi Service; Raises Funds

Tapping Into The Untapped Market
Delhi-based inter-city taxi service, Wiwigo, has raised INR 4 crore in its latest round of funding from Indian Angel Network and two HNIs. The round was led by Priyank Shankar Garg and Harsh Chitale, two IAN investors. Garg is also set to join the company’s board.
The Platform
Founded in 2014 by Sunil Chaula and Nilesh Pawaskar, the online platform facilitates one-way and round-trip cabs for inter-city travel. Wiwigo is playing an important role in bringing down fares of such services and providing easy travel options to the users. Currently, local cab services levy a round-trip charge on its one-way customers saying they don’t get a return fare. Here comes Wiwigo that automatically finds a fare for both sides via its online platform, so that the customer doesn’t unnecessarily pay the fare for both ways.
The startup offers an end-to-end solution right from customer bookings, finding vendors and drivers, sending confirmations, and journey alerts. In other words, it is the Uber/Ola of inter-state travel.

The Plan
According to Sunil Chaula, the inter-city taxi market is an unorganized sector right now. Due to this offline agents dominate it and demand non-standardized rates from customers. Wiwigo is organizing this very sector by bringing these vendors under one roof and providing back-to-back fleet bookings for cities. With the recent funding, it has plans to introduce special services like Power Smart Pricing, which will further bring 20% more savings to customers.
