WIPRO unveils first All-Women IT Park in Saudi Arabia

Wipro with its partners has set up the first all Women Business and Technology Park in Riyadh.

One of the top-notch IT Companies around the globe, Wipro is associated with Saudi Arabia since more than a decade. Recently, it inaugurated Saudi Arabia’s first all Women Business and Technology Park (WBP) at the Princess Nourah Bint Abdurrahman University, the world’s largest university for women based in Riyadh. It is a Joint Venture by Wipro and the University. Both the parties will be equally responsible for developing and maintaining the facilities and infrastructure in the park. The JV will also train and employ 21,000 women by the year 2025; thus, empowering women to play a critical role in the economy of the country. Saudi Aramco, an oil firm is playing the role of anchor and strategic advisor to the JV.

WBP is foreseen to be the greatest engineering drafting services, business process services and IT hub in varied sectors like oil and gas, government, manufacturing, healthcare, telecom and construction. The aim of this one-of-its-kind Women IT Park is to push the startup ecosystem to go for approaching entrepreneurial ventures. Since, less than 15% of the country’s workforce is women, it is a good initiative by Wipro to encourage them to participate in business and unleash their leadership skills.

Wipro is following the footsteps of its biggest competitor, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) who had established its first all-women Business Process Services (BPS) centre in Riyadh in the year 2013, where 1,000 women are employed in BPO operations.

Moreover, the park in the PNU premises includes entrepreneur incubators, daycare centers and a one-stop coordination centre for government transactions.
