Tend.ai’s Software for Robot Arms Secures $2M

Super Robot which Operates Multiple 3D Printers

In June, Tend.ai , a US based AI startup, developed a system that helps robot arm to tend to a dozen or more printers, laser cutters and other modern workshop tools. The company now has recently raised around $2 million from True Ventures.

What does the company do?

The startup’s cloud software assists robot arm to start, stop and even monitor multiple 3D printers and other devices, remove finished products and start works on new prints.  This can easily solve the problem of getting up in middle of night to examine on long print or to unload manually devices in the morning. This is helps in saving huge labor time.The arm robot just need a webcam connected to its arm which can provide view later the AI software will examine and send instructions to arm.

Toni Schneider, True Ventures partner saw this as a great opportunity and invested the whole $2 million round. In June the software was also experimented to work with CNC and even injection moulding machines. They are planning to explore its options in aerospace industry too.

What will be the funding used for?

The money they have raised will be utilized for developments purpose only that includes hiring coders and roboticists. After some progress they will also enter in sales. True Venture is also investor in MakerBot,a 3D printing company and Glowforge and has seen success. They are confident that Tend.ai is good space to explore
