Tata and Uber Shake Hands

2016 Witnesses a Significant Example of Merger!

Shaking hands

Both the biggies don’t need any introduction.  The Tata Group and popular ride-sharing company Uber Technologies Inc freshly announced its new collaboration to offer driver partners on the Uber platform as well as a comprehensive vehicle purchase and ownership solution, amongst other benefits. This is a pan-India initiative that was debuted in Hyderabad.

All this started with the Tata Opportunity Fund’s investment in Uber last year. Uber-Tata partnership is for exploring how Uber can better support drivers in India, and how Tata companies can collaborate to deliver flawless solutions to Tata group business partners.

On-going list of Tata Services for Uber

Now, Uber owners and drivers will be able to buy fuel efficient cars from Tata Motors like Indica and Indigo, gain access to flexible and customized financing solutions from Tata Capital Financial Services and Tata Motors Finance; and get affordable insurance from Tata AIG. The list is not yet over. Tata Business Support Services will provide operational support for drivers, who want to use this new vehicle solutions program.

Future Plans

By next year, the initiative is expected to fuel micro-entrepreneurship across the country by enabling over 20,000 drivers to start their own business on the Uber platform.
