Every TV geek knows who Ellen is. She is funny, smart, intelligent and gets all the famous personalities on her show; her top catch being Mr. Barack Obama. Well definitely this success looks glorious today but she had to endure lot of difficulties and struggle to earn it. To give a brief, Ellen was born on January 26 in 1958 to Elliot and Betty DeGeneres who were separated when she was teenager. Ellen dreamed of becoming veterinarian but drop the idea since she wasn’t “book-smart”.

Ellen received many offers to do stand-up comedy when she used humor to overcome the stage-fright in a public speaking event. With being just 23 years old, she started performing at a local coffee house. DeGeneres appeared on “The Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson” and from there she appeared on various TV shows. Later, her talent was recognized and she got her own prime-time sitcom TV series known as ‘Ellen’. It was originally known as “These Friends of Mine” was renamed in 1994.

The show faced strong criticism in 1997 as she became first lead in sitcom to acknowledge homosexuality on air. Due to various controversies, few of the show’s sponsors withdrew their advertisement. In spite of such difficulties her show received appreciation from various gay-friendly activists that includes her mother, Betty too. Moreover, her TV show has won numerous Emmy and People’s Choice Awards.

Ellen also works in movie from time to time, she even lend her voice for animated movie “Finding Dory”. She is married to actress Portia de Rossi. She also received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Obama for her contribution to the arts in November 2016. According to Forbes, her salary is $63 million, though it has increased rapidly over the past few years. At $63 million, Ellen is making $5 million monthly, $1.2 million weekly, and $220,000 daily.
