Hyderabad Startup, Broadcast Wear invents a T-shirt that allows you customize your slogan and image as often as you like. It is a digital T-shirt that is wearable attracting creative as well as technology enthusiasts. In the wearable product market, being the world’s first touch-enabled t-shirt, it is commercially available.
Broadcast wear is the idea of Ayyappa and Mahalakshmi Nagubandi, which has also won the best gadget award during the recent HYSEA Design Summit 2016. The startup has also raised $50K (INR 34 lakh) in seed-funding through a crowdfunding campaign. The brand has adopted a unique way of gathering funds, giving its investors an opportunity to pre-order T-shirts. The delivery of those pre-ordered t-shirts is expected to start by November 2016.
About the T-shirt
Broadcast T-shirt consists of 960 tiny surface mounted device LEDs (SMD-LEDs) with flexible printed circuit board. The device connects with the app accompanying it to give users complete control over what they wish to say. The app being available for iOS as well as Android phones is equipped to change the design multiple times. Users can tap on the LED panel to switch it on. Similarly, tap again to switch it off. A swipe across the panel changes the design from the gallery on the phone.
It is also reported that the t-shirt is made of cotton. At the same time, it is 100 % waterproof material. So, it is foldable as well as washable.But, one can only hand wash/ dry clean it because it cannot be washed using a washing machine. Also, it is comfortable to wear as the LEDs do not touch the skin. The T-shirt comes with a rechargeable battery that lasts for 4 hours. One can even charge the battery using a USB cable to be given along with the T-shirt.The product is available in multiple color options and sizes with round or collar neck LED panel either on the front or back side.
