Startup Comes Up With the Technology to Treat Vertigo and Balance Disorders

Good News for Vertigo Patients
Jaipur-based startup, NeuroEquilibrium, is working towards developing technology to treat problems like vertigo and balance disorders. Founded by couple, Anita and Rajneesh Bhandari, and vertigo specialist, Anirban Biswas, from Kolkata, this startup is eyeing to help patients with such problems.
Vertigo and Its Patients
A condition of vertigo induces false rotational movements. This leads to dizziness, nausea and balance problems. The figures show that about 5% of the population in this country suffers from Vertigo and other balance-related problems. In simple figures, this number translates to around six crore patients.
The Technology Being Developed
NeuroEquilibrium is working towards treating this condition with virtual reality. It will include a couple of virtual scenarios which will help the patients deal with and overcome vertigo. The patient will need to wear a four-piece equipment that will monitor different body parts to assess neural signals. The test will be based on how you react to a moving object and what effect it has on your balance. The founders plan to use 3D printing to manufacture more such pieces.
Apart from this, an app is also being developed that will capture various vertigo-related incidents and pass on the information to NeuroEquilibrium so that they can work on virtual scenarios to rehabilitate the patients.
Growth and Expansion
NeuroEquilibrium has two domestic clinics in Jaipur and Kolkata, and one international clinic in Cyprus. A Pune clinic is on the cards. The startup is also working towards further growing its international presence to Nepal, Bangladesh and Uganda. By year end, the aim is to open 100 more clinics. The startup is also looking at raising $3 million funding for expansion within next two months.
