Snapdeal shakes hand with UrbanClap to launch a new service on its Android App.

Snapdeal is one of the leading e-commerce platforms in India. It has invested the huge amount of over $1.74 billion in various sectors till now to strengthen its foot hold in the market
Snapdeal has collaborated with UrbanClap, a startup dedicated to provide professional services required in day to day life. The collaboration will help UrbanClap to launch a personal services category in its android mobile app. Consumers will now be able to book services in variety of ranges like beauty services or space decorator right at your home.
Anand Chandrasekaran, chief product officer at Snapdeal, tweeted, “Urbanclap 80+ services live on Snapdeal android app, joining Zomato, redBus, Cleartrip and Freecharge.”
Snapdeal had launched a pilot programme in March this year, under which it had enabled the users of Redbus, Zomato and Cleartrip to book bus tickets, flight tickets, hotel tickets and food directly on the mobile app. This tie up had facilitated Redbus, Zomato and Cleartrip with access to Snapdeal’s user base. In return, Snapdeal receives a commission for each booking made through its platform.
UrbanClap is a mobile market place providing services like house cleaning, yoga teaching, dance and other hobbies teaching, plumbing, interior decorating beauty care and so on. Since personal service in this areas is frequently required, the tie-up will also help Snapdeal in increasing the number of transaction through its platform.
Though the commissions on such transaction is not clear, there is no harm for e-commerce companies to invest in such platforms and try finding a way to monetize this investments.
