Romex, An App To Make your Driving Safe

Romex App blocks the user’s phone while he is driving, by monitoring its GPS system. According to an article by Digital Trends, 70% of drivers all over the world use smartphone behind the wheel, which can be very unsafe on the roads.

Romex is a UK based company, which has developed an app that blocks the user’s phone when he is on the go by monitoring its GPS system used for detecting the speed. The original slogan for road safety is ‘Don’t drink and drive’. However, now the slogan should be ‘Don’t text and drive’ in the era, where everything is dependent on smartphones. The app will flag all your important messages, but won’t let you read the messages.

This app is meant for drivers, especially young drivers who are addicted to checking their phones. To avoid distraction while you are on the journey,  the app automatically locks the device if the vehicle is moving faster than four miles per hour by detecting the speed from its GPS. You cannot attend calls, reply to texts, emails and use social media. If you are a passenger, you can chose the ‘passenger’option so that your phone doesn’t get blocked.

If you are travelling faster than a ‘normal human leg’, the app will disable the screen of your smartphone by default. As of now, Romex offers it’s app to corporations, who want to ensure their driver’s security. Soon, Romex may come out with a generic version. Moreover, it’s new version would integrate an app called Guardian, where a guardian can keep an eye on the user’s driving speed and safety.

Romex is chargeable. Nevertheless, it is worth to spend on it since it ensures safety of the driver. Romex is looking to associate with insurance companies who will offer reduction in the insurance premium if the driver has installed the app.

Takeaways:

  • Romex comes out with an app that blocks your smartphone while driving, backed by monitoring its GPS system.
  • The app is meant for drivers, who are glued to smartphones while driving. It helps in locking your phone by detecting the speed via GPS.
