Will new leadership bring new prosperity?

The management at Flipkart needed a little tweaking as the company blooms into various diverse businesses including e-commerce, mobile payments, logistics, and two fashion portals. Leading the new management team will be Flipkart’s co-founder Binny Bansal as CEO.

The Newfound Flow

After the recent shuffle at top level executives, KalyanKrishnamurthy and Saikiran Krishnamurthy will now be running the group’s commerce business.

Kalyan is representative of Tiger Global, the largest investor in Flipkart. He had first joined Flipkart’s team in 2013 as interim chief financial officer and categories head. Ending November 2014, he then joined Tiger Global as a managing director. Kalyan will now be handling two key business units. He will be leading the main marketplace, retail, and advertising business.

Saikaran will be leading the logistics business as the head of Ekart, the hand that manages supply side of the marketplace.

Other changes include Chief People Officer Nitin Seth reassigned as Chief of Administrative Office; overlooking strategy, planning, and analytics. Advertising head Ravi Garikipati will now become head of Engineering.

As per the hierarchy, all four appointees i.e. Kalyan Krishnamurthy, Saikiran Krishnamurthy, Nitin Seth and Ravi Garikipatiwill report to CEO, Binny Bansal.
