Bengaluru-based personal assistant app Helpchat has fired its 150 employees, as per Yourstory as well as called off its chat-based assistance service that allowed users to book cabs, movie tickets, order food and so on.  The fired employees are said to be given a severance package of three months, signing a legal document for the same. Employee lay-off seems to be common, but a tough decision for Helpchat since in October 2015, it had fired 112 employees as a part of ongoing business transformation as well as shortage of funds. After all this, Helpchat still has a team of more than 350 employees. Ankur Singla is the Founder of Helpchat.

Last year, Sequoia Capital and Ru-net had invested $16 million in Series B round of funding. Previously, it had raised $5 Mn in the Series A round of funding. In December 2015, Gurgaon-based venture fund, Trifecta Capital Advisors LLP, had also invested an undisclosed amount in it. In 2015, the startup has gone through multiple changes.

Helpchat looks forward to create the world’s fastest product and tech team.  Within the time frame of five months, they have launched recharge, bill payments, cabs, deals, news, and journey cards and so on. In the next 3 months, they are planning to launch more things, even though there chat wing has closed down.
