Microsoft’s New AI Camera App Is Better Than What Your iPhone Is Offering

Pix is best at making people look their best

Microsoft has scored, this time over Apple. With its latest AI-based camera app, Pix, Microsoft could well render the existing iPhone camera app obsolete. How? Because this app does what it is meant to do – taking beautiful photos of people. Working on iOS (yes, Microsoft is letting Apple use it), this app is being termed as something that Apple should have thought of earlier.

How Does It Spin Its Magic

It all starts with Pix’s focus on people. People are the most important subject of an image. When you click a photo, Pix automatically grabs 10 stills and so the magic begins. Instantaneously, its AI starts assessing each still based on exposure levels, and whether the person is wearing happy or sad expressions. The entire process hardly takes a second and you are presented with the three best stills of the lot. Pix uses the image data left over by the other pics to enhance each element of the final three images. You can select the best one and the rest automatically gets deleted to save your phone memory. With Pix, you no longer need to worry about those fine details. Just enjoy the moment and let Pix do all the heavy lifting for you.

More cool stuff

It also has Live Image feature, wherein it stitches a series of similar photos and gives you a live image. Anyone recalls those moving newspaper photos from Harry Potter?

The app will be soon available for Android devices.
