Gurgaon-based food-tech startup, Eatonomist is an online platform that delivers meals including Indian dishes, sandwiches and a range of desserts, using a full-stack business model prepared in its kitchens. It raises an undisclosed amount of seed investment from MCube Capital Advisors Pvt Ltd. With this funds, Eatonomist will enhance its operations, use it for marketing and build a brand. Recently, the startup has revamped its website with the help of funding. This company is a part of Fitmeal Solutions Pvt. Ltd. Anisha Dhar and Nupur Khanna founded Eatonomist in Novemeber 2014. The duo worked at Earnst & Young.
Eatonomist delivers calorie-counted gourmet meals. All their recipes are lab tested in order to know the exact amount of nutrients present. With a talented team of 20 employees, including 5 chefs, it caters to the corporate, claiming to take more than 300 per day.
The Indian online food ordering business is approximately Rs. 5-6k crore, according to a report by India Brand Equity Foundation. The online food ordering market includes aggregators, food-ordering platforms, delivery-only players, proprietary meal sellers and cloud kitchens. Brekkie, Faaso’s and Box8 are its competitors.
The startup plans to come up with an Eatonomist app soon. Moreover, it looks forward to extend its network to Delhi by the end of 2016.
