Lumenus is a Los-Angeles based startup, providing smart clothes and accessories for runners, motorcyclists and cyclists.

A Los-Angeles based startup Lumenus designs a smart LED apparel especially for cyclists to prevent accidents and save lives of pedestrians. Due to poor visibility, pedestrians are not able to see the cyclists riding on the road. The LED lights fitted in the jacket, vest and backpack, which are controlled through the app installed on your smartphone enables the citizens to be cautious and walk safely on the road. Giving worth of your every penny, you can wear them like your normal clothes as well during the daytime. However, at night, you can commute after turning on the LED lights, which also adds more visibility for the riders.

Lumenus has kept things simple by embedding the light inside the clothes. It does not make the garment look ugly by wires hanging outside. Powered by a battery and charged using a USB cable, the LED lights can work for 7.5 hours constantly. Moreover, if the LED lights are set on flash mode, then the battery life can be extended to 24 hours.

One of the most important features, Lumenus has made its clothings waterproof so that you can also use it in the rain. Jeremy Wall, the Founder and CEO of this unique startup visualized the concept from his own experience.

Last year, the company had a successful crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter. The product ranges from $150-$450. Lumenus is looking forward to partner with some clothing brands to incorporate LEDs and other smart features. However, Bolle is the first partner, who is working on developing a Lumenus-enabled bike helmet. Isn’t that great?
