The firm is looking forward to raise Rs. 6.5 crore ($1 million) for expansion in other cities of Gujarat including Vadodara, Surat, Jamnagar and Rajkot. Further, it has plans to extend its services in Pune, Nashik, Jaipur and Udaipur. Shailendra Rao Singh is the founder and CEO of this hyperlocal, on-demand laundry service provider. It had bagged a seed funding of Rs. 1 crore from angel investors.
Laundrynow.in provides a comprehensive range of laundry and ironing services that the offline players are also offering, but at a comparatively high rate. The startup brings up an affordable laundry solution that targets massive customer base.
According to the startup as stated by Business Standard, the Indian laundry market is worth Rs. 2.20 lakh crore, of which the unorganized market (which includes dhobis, maidservants, and mom-and-pop stores) is valued at Rs 5,000 crore. Being fragmented with 7,67,000 establishments, 98 per cent of the sector comprises micro-sized laundries with fewer than 10 workers. The organized segment, on the other hand, comprises a mere 2-3 per cent of the entire laundry industry in India.
