Indonesian Startup Lets You Play FarmVille In Real Life

Generally, games are inspired by real life activities. However, an Indonesian startup, iGrow comes up with a very unique idea of playing Farmville in real life.
Virtual farmers now will turn into real farmers. Inspired by the renowned Facebook game, Farmville, iGrow, an Indonesian startup allows city residents to help a local farmer. As per the game, you have to invest in seeds for a farmer and watch your investment bear fruit. You need to keep an eye as the crops grow through an independent monitor, who updates you about the progress of your yields. You can opt from a wide range of crops like the bananas, durian or water apple. After the crops are sold, the profits are shared. Iqbal Muhaimin is the co-founder of this startup.
The main idea behind such a startup is to create food security for Indonesian citizens. In this way, farmers who find it difficult to get loans, can happily join hands with urban people to invest for them. Real life Farmville gives them the opportunity to grow fruits with plenty of available fertile land. As it is, fruits are imported from Thailand. With this, you can learn to grow organic food.
Same as the game goes, investors can expect a return rate on their crops. The profit can be reinvested in some other farm or donated to the local charity. You can even choose a payout. With all this, farming is sure to become ‘work is play’.
In the near future, the startup plans to increase its variety of fruits, vegetables and herbs with the focus on living healthy. The startup doesn’t support meat production. It looks forward to expand all over the world.
