Story of Kiran Mazumdar\u00a0Shaw<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, chairman and managing director of Biocon Limited. She was born on 23rd <\/sup>March in the year 1953 in Bangalore, India. She attended Bangalore\u2019s Bishop Cotton Girl\u2019s High School and graduated in 1968. She wanted to attend medical school but couldn\u2019t since she didn\u2019t obtain scholarship.\u00a0 So she pursued Bachelors of Science in Zoology from Bangalore University and graduated in 1973. For post-graduation she went to Australia and studied about brewing from Ballarat University in Melbourne and earned the title of Master Brewer.<\/p>\n Later that in 1974 she started working as a trainee brewer at Carlton and United Beverages. After four years she worked as a trainee manager at Ireland\u2019s Biocon Biochemical\u2019s limited. She soon collaborated with same Irish Company and set up Biocon India in Bangalore.\u00a0 She started the company in 1978 in a rented garage space with initial investment of just Rs. 10000.<\/p>\n It wasn\u2019t easy for kiran as she hast to face various problems since the banks weren\u2019t providing her loan due to very less amount of women entrepreneurship at that time. She faced hardships to find workplace and asking people to join her organization. Biocon, industrial enzyme manufacturer soon started exporting to Europe and US. After few years, the company was turning into profitable venture.\u00a0 As of today, Biocon is integrated multimillion dollar biopharmaceutical enterprise. The company also went IPO in 2004. It aims to be one of top ten biotech companies all over the globe. Kiran was also named richest woman with net worth of more than Rs.2000 crore.
