According to a press statement, with this latest round of Series B financing led by Polaris Partners, Drizly\u2019s\u00a0total funding\u00a0comes to $32.8 million. Drizly<\/a> delivers \u201cThe Joy of Drinking\u201d to legal-age drinkers across the United States. Currently, the startup serves 23 markets and is on pace to be in 30 (including a couple of markets in Canada) by the end of this year.<\/p>\n

The Superior shopping experience for Beer<\/strong><\/h3>\n

This platform primarily lets users browse a wide variety of beer, wine, and spirits as well as view prices from Drizly\u2019s retail partners. Working similarly to the ever popular Uber model, these partners then receive orders and place deliveries with their own people, sharing a commission from the deal to Drizly.<\/p>\n

E-commerce initiative- Drizly Connect<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The funding primarily focused on the launch of Drizly Connect, Drizly\u2019s newest E-commerce portal through which users are no longer restricted by the selection of their local retailer. This new service offers users the ability to shop as many products as you wish including beer, wine, and spirits. And that\u2019s not all! Along with this array, Drizly makes your choices available for delivery as early as the next day.<\/p>\n

As quoted by Nick Rellas, CEO and co-founder of Drizly, \u201cWithout Connect, when a customer walks into a liquor store and that retailer doesn\u2019t carry the product they want, the customer either settles for something else or leaves empty-handed,\u201d<\/p>\n

He continues, \u201cConnect gives Drizly users a seemingly endless aisle experience in the palm of their hand available next day, for the first time ever. This is Drizly\u2019s next step in evolving the alcohol shopping experience.\u201d<\/p>\n

Is Drizly a Danger for Local Alcohol Retailers?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Drizly isn\u2019t alone in the on-demand online booze space. Competitors in the states including Minibar and Thirstie are also demonstrating a great viability in the market. The extensive scope for e-commerce can be seen as consumers are becoming more acquainted with online shopping whether for clothes, accessories, or now, for their choice of alcohol.<\/p>\n

With the introduction of Drizly Connect, it seems like local alcohol retailers are sure to take a hit; possibly a fate similar to that local textile industry with the boon of online retailers like Flipkart and Amazon.
