Hyderabad startup Dosa Place acquires ChennaiChef

Food startups are also playing the acquisition game. The fresh example of such an instance is the following one. In recent times, ChennaiChef has been acquired by Dosa Place for an undisclosed amount. ChennaiChef is the Sukashree Agro Foods’s retail brand. However, Dosa Place is run by a Hyderabad-based startup Aadya Restaurants. Following the acquisition, Aadya Restaurants will have 91 per cent ownership in Chennai Chef.

It is reported that Dosa Place found synergy in ChennaiChef. Additionally, it wants to spread their wings into retail business. That’s the reason why Dosa Place acquired ChennaiChef.
Moral of the acquisition
Through this acquisition, Ajay Koneru – Aadya Restaurant’s founder hopes to standardize the quality and taste of food across their restaurants and food trucks,simultaneously step into the world of retail. Moreover, Aadya Restaurants would use ChennaiChef’s products to prepare the food served at their quick service restaurants and food trucks through a centralised kitchen and house those products for sale.
Future Plans
Operating in Hyderabad solely, Aadya Restaurants have plans to open 36 outlets in India, starting with Bengaluru itself within the next18 months.It is also in talks with several investors in order to raise funds.
