Hamwells’ e-Shower: World’s First Water Recycling Shower
Shower of the Future
Just as you had thought, with the current global water crisis, this reality was never too far. A Netherlands-based startup, Hamwells, has come up with world’s first e-shower that flows recycled water from its faucet. Rob Chömpff led company was part of the Startup Battlefield at Disrupt London, 2015 and now it has raised a sum of €1.2 million from various angel investors.
The Recylcing e-Shower
The e-shower has a recirculation feature that recycles a drop of water 7 times, thus reducing water usage significantly. Not only this, the unit comes with a mobile app that, apart from various features and controls, tells the user about the weather conditions outside while they take shower. This helps them in picking up the right clothes to wear according to the day’s weather. The other features of the app are still being worked on. But as of now, the weather feature is available.
About 150 customers have pre-ordered the e-Shower and the company plans to ship them their orders this week. Also, Hamwells will start shipping international orders by 2017. Right now, the company is concerned with making its mark in California where people were hit with 2016’s record-setting drought condition. It also plans to set up a subsidiary in the U.S. by 2017. For single unit orders, the price will be €2,890. For businesses ordering the e-Shower in bulk of 100 and above, it will cost just €1,500 each.
