France’s Biggest Startup Accelerator Decides to Go Big

NUMA, a major French startup accelerator has decided to go international.  It is of the opinion that the current momentum of the French startup ecosystem should be utilized to the fullest.

NUMA took birth from Le Camping, which was France’s first startup accelerator Le Camping emerged in 2011, and was nurtured by France’s first co-working space Le Cantine, which was launched in 2008 to encourage collaboration among budding entrepreneurs.

In 2015, NUMA went from being an association / a non-profit organization to an SAS or a private company. It has also secured more than $4.43 million funding to power its international strategy.

Right now NUMA is on an ambitious path. Its primary goal is to extend its service into cities that have evolving startup ambiences, all over the world. It is stepping out beyond Paris, into Central America, West Africa, South East Asia, Central Europe and the Middle East.

Another major goal is that NUMA is aiming to become the primary POC (point of contact) for international startups which have plans to work in Europe.

The third target on the agenda is to assist French startups to catalyze their business and provide them access to markets all over the world.

“Our international strategy is based on the momentum that happened four years ago in France, and to go into emerging markets that are equal to the French ecosystem back then,” NUMA acceleration director RomainAmblardstated.

NUMA is certainly progressing fast and has set up offices in Moscow, Casablanca and Bangalore.
