CarDekho acquires a Virtual Reality based startup
Volob technologies, a virtual reality startup is by far CarDekho’s third acquisition this year. The motive behind Volob’s acquisition is to enhance the visual experience of the car buyers in real and virtual settings.
Jaipur based Girnar Software Pvt. Ltd, which owns CarDekho along with other online portals like Gaadi.com and Zigwheels.com, has made an undisclosed all cash deal with Volob technologies. The company has made three acquisitions this year which includes ‘Volob’, a VR startup; ‘Connecto’, a SaaS startup and ‘Help on Wheels Pvt. Ltd’, a roadside assistance startup. While launching ‘Help on the Wheels’ the company had also provided the customers with value adding services like insurance, accessories and tyres stores online.
CarDekho had raised funds from Google Capital and Hillhouse in March this year and is taking up every opportunity to bring in improvement in their service and facilitate users with better decision making related to car ownership. CarDekho is currently value at $380 million. The company had started out with being an online portal for used cars, which later expanded by acquiring Gaadi.com, therefore extending their service.
The company was previously using Drishya360’s services for developing its virtual reality framework. Volob technologies, founded by Tarun Kumar and Shweta Jain in 2010, specifically work into 3D visualization solutions for various industries and will strengthen CarDekho’s existing 3D visualization capabilities with help of virtual and augmented reality.
