BMW’s emergency system calls for help in case of accident

BMW Motorrad introduced a new Emergency system for Motorcycle. It is an Intelligent Emergency call system with new eCall facility.
Compared to automobile users, motorcycle riders are more likely to have accidents while riding. Bigger vehicles have incorporated emergency systems for their safety. But in motorcycles, innovation in emergency part is very limited. Fatality rate mostly rises because of negligence of the accident area. To tackle the issue, BMW Motorrad has introduced a new Intelligent Emergency call system, which was previously used in BMW cars.
A sensor alerts the rider in case the bike inclines too much. And if the bike crashes, the system can be used to raise an alert or it can be used to make a call directly. The system can also be used by fellow riders. The interaction of this Emergency call system relies on the accident severity. For example, if the accident is severe, the system will alert bike’s exact coordinates and if the accident is minor the system will delay the call which rider can choose to cancel.
Eventually this is going to contribute more towards the driver’s safety. There is a SOS button on the right handle with a microphone and speaker. The biker can make a call directly to the BMW call center to initiate a rescue mission. What matters the most, is to get the right coordinates to locate the crashed bike, so that help can reach as soon as possible. In case the condition is severe, the system will automatically make a call and inform the call center. A few second’s delay can be fatal to the accident victim. Thus, having an extremely smart emergency system for bikers is a necessary requirement. The system has been introduced in Germany and is available for the motorbike riders there.

- Intelligent Emergency Call system by BMW Motorrad now owns an eCall facility.
