Bengaluru metro stations welcome startups

Soon, The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation would come out with tenders for startups seeking commercial leases at more than 30 metro stations in the city.

The idea of getting businesses started on some metro stations of Bengaluru was in process from a long time. Due to less footfall, the idea was not implemented before. However,  with the sudden shoot up in the number of footfall, The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation decided to soon come out with tenders for startups seeking commercial leases at more than 30 metro stations in the city.

It has been reported that the MG road metro station can house 50-80 stalls and shops in an approximate 850 square meter area. The startups can be anything, ranging from electronics, cosmetics to food joints and coffee shops.

Commercial plots are a  usual feature around metro stations in foreign countries as well as in some parts of India. For Bengaluru, it would be something new. With better connectivity and access of metro stations, the startups can greatly benefit from it.
