Back From The Dead- Nokia Handsets Reintroduced By Finnish Company HMD

A real eye-opening move!

Finnish company HMD plans to relaunch the Nokia brand for phones. HMD has more to offer with its plans, providing the company with naming and patent rights, in exchange for royalty payments. Though there is no direct investment in HMD, Nokia is providing some oversight via posting on the company’s board.

After Microsoft’s failed attempt to bring Nokia back into the market in 2013, HMD has taken up this task once again. The Nokia brand is being reintroduced into the mobile market as Nokia ‘featured phones’.

Team Nokia 2016

The team at Nokia 2016 has announced the roping in of PekkaRantala, Former CEO of Angry Birds creator Rovio. In 2015, he quitted Rovio as he had a rough year. A former executive from 1994-2011 at Nokia will also be rejoining the company as Chief Marketing Officer.

The new phones will be manufactured by Foxconn, but it has not given a timetable for products yet.At one time, Nokia had been the world’s biggest phone manufacturer!
