Facebook is Testing Video Downloads

A small percentage of Indian Facebook users will get a new video download option. If you are connected to your WiFi, you can sync your device for offline viewing within Facebook’s app. Its new OpenCellular wireless access platform brings connections to remote areas.

Currently, video content industry is booming big-time. Bigger screens, better cameras and faster connections have contributed in boosting the mobile video viewership. This is a great attempt from Facebook to fuel the industry.

No Issues of Piracy

In order to prevent downloads from turning into piracy, Facebook is securely locking the videos within its app so that they are not visible in a device’s local memory. For more security, publishers can also opt for the feature of disallowing videos to down via its Page’s Content Distribution setting. You can only download original videos posted by users on personal accounts or from Pages. With this, you can view videos anytime, online or offline, without using extra mobile data.

Though Facebook ranks the highest amongst all social networking sites, it constantly strives to improve its user-experience.
