Apple wants you to try its new operating system. The developer version lets you take all the advantages of all new APIs, while the pubic version is to identify the bugs in the OS.

Advice before installing on device

It is advisable not install an iOS beta on its chief iPhone or iPad. Since it’s on testing, some apps may not work or sometimes it might crash your phone, too. Before trying it out, do take backup of your data.

Ensure that your iCloud backup is updated by going to the Settings app on your iPhone, or plug your iOS device to your computer to do a manual backup in iTunes. You can go for both the options.
