Acquisition Of Intelligent-Scheduling Startup Genee By Microsoft

Microsoft Step into Artificial Intelligence Sector by this Acquisition

Recently, Microsoft acquired Genee, a startup that helps a user to schedule appointments by providing a virtual assistant.  As per the deal, the Genee team will merge with Microsoft to work on introducing intelligence into Office 365. The service provided by the Genee allow the users to get looped in an artificial intelligence assistant that could elucidate sentences such as “set up lunch at some point this week” and set them into the calendar appointments.

How the Ideas Match?

Acquisition of Genee is a part of the Microsoft’s ongoing campaign to create intelligent productivity software and services by using AI. This idea came to the company under the ownership of CEO Satya Nadella, with others features such as Office Delve, which finds shared documents within a company that is pertinent to a user, and Focused Inbox in Outlook that filters irrelevant emails into a new tab so that it will not clutter a user’s experience.  The goal of Genee to give intelligent assistants to help those people who don’t have any human assistant goes well with Microsoft’s vision.

Will this step of Microsoft add to its development in artificial intelligence area? Please share your thoughts in the comments section below.
